This has been a year for the books. Between all the rain this Spring and continued rain through the Summer so far, the grass and plants are going crazy. It has been quite a few years since I can remember cutting almost every week through July. This last week, however, the grass is starting to get the brown color of
Summer to it. With that in mind, we may start skipping some cuts if the grass does not need it. If you are having us keep the weeds out of your flower beds, we will continue to check them every week even if we don’t cut.

Our crews are working their way through the pruning/hedge trimming list so if you haven’t seen us yet, don’t be alarmed! We are on the way. If you have any special request on the pruning, please let us know so we can get the information to the crews before they show up to your property. If you did not select the pruning option on your contract but would like to have it done, just let us know and we can get you added on to the list.

The next operation we will be working on getting scheduled is our Fall overseeding and aeration. If you signed off on one or both of these on your contract, you don’t need to do anything else. If you would like to be added to the list, just give us a call and we can make it happen. Some people are not sure about doing either or both of them. There are several reasons to aerate your lawn but the biggest one is to reduce the compaction in the soil. This makes it easier for the grass to get roots down deeper in the soil. By doing this, the grass is more tolerant of Summer drought and will come back quicker once the rains start back up. The overseeding we do to help out any lawns that are looking thin or are having trouble recovering from the Summer drought stress. If you would like us to look at your lawn to see if it could benefit from it, just let us know.
